Airlie Beach Community Markets
Every Saturday & weather dependant
The Lions Airlie Beach Community Markets are a great place to stop by if you are looking for local produce, art, craft or locally made Whitsunday souvenirs. You can find anything from handmade jewelry to Hawaiian shirts and tie dyed clothes. They sell hand painted signs, home grown fruit and veges, potted herbs, handcrafted toys, local artwork of the Whitsundays, homemade spices, unique candy, delicious food and drink and so much more! The Airlie Beach markets are held on the foreshore between the Airlie Beach Hotel and the Whitsunday Sailing Club every Saturday morning. They start early in the morning at 7.00am and they usually finish just after lunch at 1.00pm. They also open for the Cruise Ships on the days that they are visiting town.
The stalls are set up in the sand along the beach, under the coconut trees and beside the water. It is such a beautiful location to wonder around with the sand between your toes, while you browse through all the local products.Be sure to check out Patrick and Sylvie’s Bowen Mango sorbet stall, where the locals have been going for years. Their mango sorbet is the best in town and they have been selling this delicious sorbet at the Whitsunday markets for over 20 years!
If you are lucky, Whitsunday Sand Art will put on a display for you to enjoy while passing through the market stalls. Adrian Connor’s famous dragon is displayed below.
When the Whitsunday Camels are in town, they also make an appearance at the Airlie Beach markets. They take the kids for a ride along the beach in front of the market stalls, with the beautiful ocean backdrop behind them.
While you are sitting down and enjoying a delicious coffee on the beach front, why not let the kids play in the massive new playground! This fully fenced playground is every child’s dream, with high sweeping slides and spiderweb ropes to navigate through. They will be entertained for hours in this playground, they may never want to leave!
Finally, what makes the Airlie Beach foreshore markets so special, is its live music. A lot of local bands get the chance to play here, to warm up and entertain the crowd while they walk around the stalls.
So if you are looking for something to do on your Saturday morning, the Airlie Beach Foreshore markets are a must. Help support the locals and go and check out what they have got to offer. See you there!
