It’s well known that Italians are deeply versed in the gioie della tavola, or “the joys of the table.” At La Tabella, the delight of the Italian long lunch or communal dinner is celebrated in the heart of Airlie Beach. Owner, Leni Fries, had a vision to bring a superior level of service and high-quality cuisine to Airlie Beach. La Tabella celebrates its seventh birthday and a reputation for raising the bar. Experience the elegance for yourself. Nonna’s long table can seat up to 20 people, inviting friends and family to revel in ravioli with a festive glass of Prosecco in hand. Al Fresco dining is available with one of the best beachfront positions in Airlie Beach. Italian taste is honoured, utilising fresh seasonal produce with bold flavour. The specials board changes daily, to allow for local seafood to be served soon after it’s caught. Pasta and gnocchi are made in-house daily as are the delicious desserts. Herbs are grown in gardens at the front of the restaurant for a true garden to plate experience and the extensive wine list features quality wines from Australia, New Zealand and Italy to complement the food. The Tiramisu is Leni’s own recipe, and she crafts her own Limoncello using organically grown lemons from her home tree. Her greatest achievement is giving her staff a place they can be proud to call their own.

"The standard of service comes down to the team being proud of where they work and confident in the quality of the food they serve. Some have been with me for many years, it is them I have to thank for providing locals and visitors such a memorable dining experience," she said.

Leni has been in hospitality since her teens. By early twenty she managed the very successful Colonial Inn in Berrima a favourite stop over for Snow bound travelers. Following the sale of the business she went to Sydney where she continued her successful career and managed the iconic La Grillade Restaurant in Crows Nest. She soon became a household name in the industry renowned for her passion for great service and giving customers the complete dining experience. After several years of travel and a well earned break Leni settled in Airlie Beach and operates now the most successful Restaurant along the beach.
